Reselling

So, you’ve decided to sell your Shared Ownership home and move on. But how do you go about selling your property, and what costs are involved?

If you notice damp, mould, leaks, heating issues or any other problems in your home, please let us know straight away. The sooner you report it, the faster we can fix it.

What to expect

1. Intention to sell and receiving a valuation
You need to let us know you want to sell your home, so we ask that you complete our Intention to Sell form here:

You should also instruct an independent surveyor to value your home. You must use a RICS surveyor (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) and return the Intention to Sell form and valuation to us.

2. Marketing your home
We hold all the relevant information about your home, including original photos and floorplans. You are welcome to provide us with your own photos if you prefer. We’ll then use this information to market the property online.

3. Arranging viewings
We’ll ask anyone who is interested in your home to contact you to book a viewing. You will need to offer them a suitable date and time to view your home. Make sure it’s in tip-top condition for when they look around.

4. You've found a buyer
Once someone expresses an interest in buying your home, we will ask them to complete an application form and undertake a financial assessment. We will then ask the local authority to approve the application.

4. Finalising the sale
Once we have confirmed the buyer and they have paid their deposit, you’ll need to instruct your solicitor to complete the paperwork. Contracts will then be drawn up, and exchange and completion dates will be agreed.
